Federal support announced for Lindsay manufacturers

The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario announced on August 17 more than $7 million in Regional Tariff Response Initiative support for two Lindsay-based businesses: Armada Toolworks Ltd. and Mariposa Dairy Ltd.

FedDev Ontario said the investments are intended to help the companies expand operations and increase resilience. The agency described the initiative as supporting southern Ontario businesses seeking to boost productivity, strengthen supply chains and diversify into new markets.

Mariposa Dairy project combines expansion and automation

Mariposa Dairy is receiving a repayable contribution of more than $6.5 million toward a $19.5 million project. The project includes an expansion of the company’s facility and the adoption of advanced automated technologies for processing, packaging and shipping.

Incorporated in 2005, Mariposa Dairy produces goat and sheep milk cheese products. The company operates two facilities totaling more than 80,000 square feet and has previously received support from FedDev Ontario, according to the agency.

Armada Toolworks plans operational modernization

Armada Toolworks is receiving more than $650,000 toward a modernization project valued at more than $1.3 million. The company plans to integrate new technologies and manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, strengthen capabilities and diversify into new markets.

Armada Toolworks was incorporated in 2000 and designs and manufactures custom plastic parts and assemblies for the automotive sector. Its president said the company is pursuing a business pivot into the medical-device industry and that the investment will assist with capital-equipment needs for that venture.

Launch Kawartha provides local business support

FedDev Ontario also highlighted Launch Kawartha, the local Community Futures Development Corporation. The agency said the organization has supported Mariposa Dairy, Armada Toolworks and thousands of other companies through investments and business advisory services.

Launch Kawartha has operated for more than 40 years. According to FedDev Ontario, it has provided more than $50 million in loans, contributed to more than 9,400 jobs in the Kawartha Lakes and responded to more than 17,000 requests for business support and capital advisory services.

FedDev Ontario said applications remain open under the Regional Tariff Response Initiative.
